Primorskaya Oblast

Primorskaya Oblast ((ロシア語:Примо́рская о́бласть)) was an administrative division of the Russian Empire and the early Russian SFSR, created on October 13, 1856 by the Governing Senate.〔''History of Soviet Primorye'', p. 31〕 Originally the oblast included the territories of the Kamchatka and Chukchi Peninsulas, the Okhotsk Coast, Priamurye, and the Sakhalin and Kuril Islands; later the Amur River's left bank and Primorye were added.〔 The seat of the oblast was originally in Nikolayevsk-on-Amur, but was later moved to Vladivostok.〔 In 1884, Primorskaya Oblast became a part of the newly formed Priamurye General-Governorship.〔
Primorskaya Oblast ceased to exist when the Far Eastern Republic was proclaimed in 1920.
